Privacy Policy

Overview

AudioSRT ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data. We have designed AudioSRT with privacy as a core architectural principle, not an afterthought.

The short version: On the free tier, your audio never leaves your device — we do not collect it, and we do not store your transcripts. On paid tiers, cloud transcription is sent only to our transcription provider to generate your transcript, and is not stored permanently by AudioSRT. We store account, subscription, and cloud-project data as described below.

1. Audio and Video Files

• Files uploaded for browser transcription (free tier) are processed entirely on your device using Whisper AI via Transformers.js (WebAssembly) and are never sent to our servers.
• Files uploaded for cloud transcription (Starter/Pro/Studio) are sent to our transcription provider (Deepgram) for processing and are not stored permanently by AudioSRT.
• Exported files (SRT, VTT, burned-in video, etc.) are generated in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.

The Whisper AI model weights used for browser transcription are downloaded from a CDN when you first use the transcription feature. This is a one-time download cached by your browser and does not include your audio or any personal data.

2. Payment Information

• Payment processing is handled by DodoPayments — AudioSRT does not store your credit card or bank details.
• We store your subscription status, plan type, and billing period in our database to manage your account.

3. Data Retention

• Cloud project data (subtitles, settings) is stored in our database and can be deleted by the user at any time.
• Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted upon request.

4. Information We Collect

Website Analytics

We do not currently use analytics tracking cookies or session recording. If we add analytics in the future, we will update this policy and, where required by law, obtain your consent.

Server Logs

Like all websites, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically logs basic access data including IP addresses, browser user agents, and pages requested. These logs are used for security monitoring and infrastructure maintenance. Cloudflare's data retention for these logs follows their standard practices. We do not use these logs to identify individual users.

Contact Form

If you contact us via the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not shared with third parties.

5. Google AdSense

AudioSRT displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google AdSense uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to serve ads based on your browsing behavior and interests.

Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Advertising Policies. You can opt out of personalized advertising through Google's Ads Settings.

Google AdSense cookies do not have access to your audio files or transcripts — these are processed locally (free tier) or sent only to our transcription provider (paid tiers), and are not accessible to third-party ad scripts.

6. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies: Required for basic website functionality, including keeping you signed in. These cannot be disabled.
• Advertising cookies: Set by Google AdSense for personalized advertising. These can be managed through your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties except as described in this policy (Cloudflare hosting, DodoPayments payment processing, Deepgram cloud transcription for paid tiers, Google AdSense advertising). We do not share your data with data brokers or marketing companies.

8. GDPR Rights (EEA/UK Residents)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold about you:

• Right of access: You can request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Right to rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate personal data
• Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your personal data
• Right to restriction: You can request we restrict processing of your data
• Right to portability: You can request your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to object: You can object to our processing of your data

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11. Note that since we collect minimal personal data, most requests can be fulfilled quickly.

Our lawful basis for processing personal data is legitimate interests (serving the website), contract performance (managing paid subscriptions), and consent (advertising cookies where required by applicable law).

9. CCPA Rights (California Residents)

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us as described in Section 11.

10. Children's Privacy

AudioSRT is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of AudioSRT after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
